Last opponent of his career Anthony Johnson, the light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was also surprised by the announcement of his rival's retirement, minutes after the two faced each other in the main fight of UFC 210, held last Saturday (08), in Buffalo (USA). When asked about the matter at the post-event press conference, DC was honest in admitting that MMA will lose out with Johnson's decision, whom he defined as a 'fun to watch' fighter.

“It's going to be bad for the division, because it's fun to watch him fight. People like watching his fights. He's always knocking someone out. It sucks. It's really bad. I don’t think he should retire,” declared the champion.

Despite saying that he does not agree with Johnson's decision, Cormier highlighted that it is necessary to respect and support the now former fighter's choice.

“I don’t know what’s going on in his personal life. He said he needed to deal with something outside of the fighting world. As someone who knows Anthony, not just in the fight but outside of it, the only thing you can do is try to support him. If he has something bigger to do, he has something bigger to do. We all have journeys in this life, and I think Anthony's journey is heading in the opposite direction from ours,” he concluded.
