Recently retired Urijah Faber is inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame

Ultimate announced last weekend that the "California Kid" will be the first athlete inducted into the 2017 class

The UFC announced this weekend the introduction of Urijah faber to the Hall of Fame in 2017. The former fighter, who retired after victory over Brad pickett in December last year, he became known for his time as WEC champion, and for his unsuccessful attempts to become the owner of a belt in Ultimate.

Despite never being UFC champion, Faber is seen as one of the main catalysts for the lighter weight classes. His success as a WEC featherweight caught the attention of Ultimate and helped the event introduce featherweights and bantamweights in 2011, when the organization absorbed the WEC, bringing in names like José Aldo, Dominick Cruz, Chad Mendes, Joseph Benavidez, Demetrious Johnson, Donald Cerrone, in addition to Faber himself.

Faber himself expressed his happiness at joining the select club of Hall of Fame members, which includes the likes of Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Rodrigo Minotauro, Royce gracie, Ken Shamrock, B.J. Penn e Matt hugs.
