UFC president Dana White initially objected to seeing his lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, venturing into boxing against Floyd Mayweather, one of the greatest names in the noble art of all time. However, the manager said that the gratitude he feels for the Irishman helped him change his mind.

Dana praised the way McGregor handled the UFC and the change of opponents just a few days before the fights, and said that, therefore, he could not deny the champion the chance to earn as much money as he could earn if the fight with Mayweather get off the paper.
“This kid does it and it happens. A lot of people talk and few people actually do it. Conor McGregor It's like a unicorn. I've never dealt with a boy like that. This guy kept his speech when many people in his position wouldn't do the same. I've said this a million times. I'm the guy who's on these fighters' side when they're thinking about accepting a new opponent a week before the fight and Conor McGregor He doesn't even hesitate (…) So for him, having this kind of opportunity, where he's going to make a lot of money, a fight that everyone wants to see, it seems like it's my obligation to help him. I have a lot of respect for McGregor”, acknowledged White, in an interview with the North American program “The Herd”.
Despite Dana White's words, the fight is not over yet. The Irishman himself needs to resolve his differences with Floyd Mayweather so that the two can enter the ring. The American wants a bigger slice of all the profits from the fight, while McGregor is looking for an equal share of the money the fight generates.
