the dream of Chris Cyborg Fighting for the UFC women's featherweight belt is getting closer, but it won't go exactly the way she planned. This is because the fighter herself revealed that her next opponent, the champion Germaine DeRandamie did not agree to face her at UFC 212, on June 3, in Rio de Janeiro, as the Brazilian had suggested. Therefore, there was no other option but to fight in the United States.

“I asked to fight (in Rio), I really wanted to fight in Brazil. Imagine, for the belt, in Brazil, I think it would be a dream. I made the request, but in fact Germaine doesn't agree to fight with me in Brazil, so we agree to fight in the USA and have a great fight. But I asked all the Brazilian fans for this fight”, Cyborg revealed to the website 'Combate.com'.
The title fight, however, could have already taken place in February this year. At the time, the Brazilian refused to fight for the category's inaugural belt due to treatment to recover from a previous weight cut, which 'forced' Ultimate to marry Germain de Randamie x Holly holm at UFC 208.
“First I was sick, now I'm better and I can fight. I'm waiting for the UFC to close my fight. My next fight will be with the 145 (pounds, or 65,7kg) champion. In fact, for me, I'm the champion and I'm going to defend the belt in my next fight. I’m training and waiting for the opportunity to arrive,” she concluded.
Chris Cyborg, 31 years old, has already had two fights in Ultimate, both at catchweight (up to 63,5kg). His debut took place at UFC 198, in Curitiba, in May 2016, when he knocked out Leslie Smith. Afterwards, he knocked out Lina Lansberg in the UFC Brasilia, last September.
