However, he assures that he is innocent, and a year after his punishment, he is still trying to prove in court that he did not commit any illegality.

“The punishment is two years, but since the news came out, I've been fighting and trying to find out which substance failed the test. It's the accredited laboratory's fault, which even lost its accreditation, which gave a false positive. I was tested several times, I took another test in December 2016 and we are pushing for them to admit the error. The problem is that, if they admit that they made a mistake and the result was a false positive, they will have to open up to several other fighters tested in the laboratory during the period. It's difficult, we're trying to get one last chip and the hope is to return this year. That’s why I keep training because if I lose another two years, at the height of my career, it’s complicated,” said Viscardi, in an interview with the website Combate.com.

Viscardi is keen to emphasize that the problem is only with USADA, and not with Ultimate. According to the welterweight, the organization has provided the necessary support to try to resolve the case.

“The UFC is giving me full support, they are always on standby and helping us with everything. The problem, in fact, is USADA. There was a failure in the laboratory and, if they release it to us, they will have to release it to everyone. And they don't want that to happen. This is holding everything back and, given the progress of the entire process, it is difficult for any type of reversal of the decision to take place”, he concluded.
