After running over Vitor belfort at UFC Fortaleza, on March 11th, Kelvin Gastelum he already has a date to fight again in Brazil, and again against an MMA legend: he faces Anderson Silva at UFC 212, in Rio de Janeiro, on June 3rd. The confrontation even came from the North American himself, who expressed interest in facing Spider, and, consequently, felt 'like an idiot' for the challenge, according to his own words.

“You know what? I'm an idiot (laughs). I don't know why (wanting to fight Brazilians in Brazil), but I enjoyed the whole experience. Brazil was very good for me, the fans were spectacular. The entire experience was sensational. I started learning Portuguese and kind of invaded the entire Brazilian culture. I was in Rio de Janeiro and visited favelas, I got to know the real Rio and the love of the people was incredible. They are very passionate,” said Gastelum in an interview with the “MMA Hour” program (USA).

Gastelum, however, admitted he was surprised Anderson accepted the fight. For him, regardless of the opponent, the important thing is to continue facing the best in the world.

“Yes (I was surprised). I thought that would be a problem, I didn't think he would sign. But I have all the respect for him. I didn't think I would accept the fight, but I have to be grateful for the opportunity to face the best of all time. He deserves all the respect in the world. I didn't expect it, I really didn't expect it. In fact, I expected my victory and a great fight afterwards, and I'm comfortable facing the best”, said Gastelum, who concluded by stating that he saw gaps to be exploited in Spider's game, although he continues to respect him as a fighter.

PUBLICITY:

“I saw his last fight and I could see a lot of little holes in his game. Usually we find holes in other people's games, but Anderson is a different animal. He's a very complete fighter and better than anyone he's ever faced. Derek showed a lot of respect for Anderson in that fight. Of course he deserves that respect, but once the fence closes, it’s you for yourself,” he concluded.
