At 36 years old, Johnny is going for his sixth fight in the organization. In the five previous fights, three wins and two defeats. In his most recent performance, he knocked out Manvel Gamburyan in the UFC Sao Paulo, in November 2016. Matthew, in turn, is even less experienced in Ultimate: he debuted by being submitted by the Brazilian Rani Yaya July last year, but bounced back by defeating Mitch Gagnon at UFC 206 in December.
The main fight of UFC 212 will be a duel for the unification of the featherweight title. The linear champion José Aldo faces the owner of the interim belt Max Holloway. Also confirmed at the event is a duel between former strawweight title challengers Claudia gadelha e Karolina Kowalkiewicz, in addition to a fight between Brazilian newcomer Deiveson Alcântara against Marco Beltran, and the promising Antonio Shoe Guy, who faces Eric Spicely.
