After long negotiations, Misha Cirkunov renews with the UFC

30-year-old light heavyweight, considered one of the main fighters in the category, renewed his contract with Ultimate

The soap opera was long, but it had a happy ending. After a complicated negotiation, the light heavyweight Misha Cirkunov renewed his contract with the UFC and will continue his journey with the organization. Two weeks ago, Dana White, president of Ultimate, had declared that both parties had not reached an agreement and talks were over, indicating that Cirkunov would work for another company.

However, the director himself made a statement this Wednesday (01) revealing that there had been a turnaround in the situation. “We had even understood each other, but he kind of disappeared. Honestly, I don't know what happened, but now he's shown up again and we've made a deal. I'm happy about that”, declared Dana, in an interview with the website 'TSN' (USA).

At 30, Misha Cirkunov is considered one of the main names for the future of the light heavyweight division. In Ultimate since 2015, he won the four duels he held in the franchise, all via the fast track. His most recent performance was at UFC 206, in December 2016, when he submitted Nikita Krylov still in the first round. In total, the Lithuanian-born and Canadian-born fighter has 13 victories and two setbacks in his professional record.
