José Aldo returns to the octagon on June 3 for UFC 212, in Rio de Janeiro. At the event, the featherweight champion will make his first title defense in the new “kingdom” against Max Holloway, current interim champion. The Brazilian analyzed the Hawaiian's game, highlighting his rival's stature, but highlighting that he doesn't think he's a complete fighter.
"ItHe's a tall athlete, yes, but I have a good wingspan too. So, if it doesn't tie, there are only a few centimeters difference. At the time he may have an advantage, but I don't see him as an athlete specializing in any skill. He's a good kickboxer, he's versatile on top of that, but he has so-so jiu-jitsu. He's not a complete athlete, but he's very aggressive and dangerous.“, commented Aldo in an interview with the program “Giro Combate”.
Fighting in Rio de Janeiro for the fourth time with Ultimate, Aldo counts on the support of the Rio fans to unify the featherweight title and continue as champion, in the second phase of his “reign”, interrupted briefly after the defeat to Conor McGregor, but reconquered on an interim basis against Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 and definitively a few months later after the UFC stripped the Irishman of his title due to inactivity. For the Brazilian, the Rio fans give him a 99% chance of defeating Holloway.
"Fighting in Brazil always has a special taste, fighting for Brazilian fans, for your friends, where you train, where you live, has a differentiating factor. I'm very happy, and I know that there's 99% of getting there and winning.r”, he concluded.
