Anderson Silva made amends with victory at UFC 208, an event held last Saturday (12), in New York. But not everything is rosy for Brazilians. The New York Athletic Commission (NYSAC), the body responsible for sanctioning the event, issued medical suspensions from the show and Spider received a 30-day suspension.
Silva did not suffer any serious injuries in the fight against Derek Brunson, but the suspension is preventive, due to the number of blows suffered while he was on the ground. On the other hand, the American, defeated by Anderson, will only be suspended for seven days.

The longest medical suspension was given to Dustin poirier, who suffered a leg injury during his victory over Jim Miller. The two received the Fight of the Night bonus, but the 'Diamond' will be suspended indefinitely, and will only be able to fight again when he presents tests that prove that his injury has healed. The members of the main fight, Holly holm e Germaine DeRandamie, are out of action for 45 and 30 days, respectively.
Medical suspension is a preventive measure imposed by Athletic Commissions to preserve the health of athletes. During this period, fighters must even stay away from training.
