The legend is back! The Canadian Georges St Pierre He settled his issues with the event and should return to the octagon in 2017. A new contract between the athlete and the organization should be signed in the coming days, according to information from the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

The Canadian, considered one of the greatest athletes of all time and record holder for PPV sales, has not fought since November 2013, when he last defended his title against John hendricks. Immediately after the fight, GSP announced that he would be out of the sport indefinitely.

The UFC's goal is for St. Pierre to return in the third quarter of the year. In recent months, GSP has hinted that he would like to return, but the UFC's agreement with Reebok, a competitor of Under Armor (the Canadian's sponsor), was preventing him from signing a new contract with Ultimate.

Despite being considered the best welterweight (up to 77 kg.) of all time, St. Pierre recently expressed interest in challenging Michael Bisping, current middleweight champion. Other fights that were mentioned as possible for GSP's return: a rematch with Nick Diaz, whom the Canadian beat at UFC 158, and a superfight against Anderson Silva, which was speculated for years, when both were champions of their respective categories.
