UFC 208: Germaine De Randamie defeats Holm and wins inaugural featherweight belt

Germaine DeRandamie wrote his name in the history of MMA. In the main fight of UFC 208, held in the early hours of Saturday (11), in Brooklyn, the Dutchwoman defeated Holly holm in a unanimous decision by the judges (triple 48×47) and became the first female UFC featherweight champion.

The fight

The duel started with the two studying each other a lot, with almost no aggression in the opening minutes. De Randamie began to surround Holm in the cage, who was content to respond with low kicks. The physically stronger Dutchwoman put pressure on her rival, who dodged and avoided falling into the exchange. In the final stretch, the American clinched and tried to take her to the ground, without success.

Holm returned more actively to the second issue, firing good combinations of blows, which were responded to in kind by her opponent. Holm took the fight to the cage and clinched, leaving the duel deadlocked and without much emotion. The pace continued like this until the end of the round.

The third round began with Holm taking the inactive position, but to no avail. De Randamie responded in kind, with hard right blows. The former champion tried to clinch, without success. The fight continued with striking, but without effective strikes. In the final seconds, Holm hit a beautiful shot at the Dutchwoman, who defended herself.

At a disadvantage in striking, Holly holm took Randamie to the cage and worked in the clinch, looking for the Dutchwoman's legs trying to take the fight to the ground. The fight continues in the same script, with Randamie working on the counterattack, and Holly trying to find an opening to take her to the ground, but was unsuccessful.

In the decisive round, Holm came back more aggressive, but nothing that bothered the Dutchwoman. Holm unleashed a good straight left, shaking the Dutchwoman, who felt it and made the clinch. The American stayed on the railing, cornering Randamie, who was trying to defend himself. In the final minute, more of the same, with the two rehearsing blows, but without effectiveness.
