Former women's bantamweight champion, Holly holm could make history this Saturday (11), at UFC 208. If he wins Germaine DeRandamie In the main fight, valid for the featherweight title, the North American will become the first woman to hold two titles in two different divisions in Ultimate. Whoever comes out with the belt, however, will have the shadow of Chris Cyborg, considered the best featherweight in the world and Invicta champion. Holm disagreed when asked, in a conversation with the press, if she would like to defend her title against the Brazilian, if she wins the 66 kg title.

“For there to be a fight with Cyborg, a lot needs to happen. I know people talk a lot about this duel, but I need to fight Germaine first. And then Cyborg has to deal with USADA, as he could end up suspended for a year. I don't think about good fights because of money or fame. I want to challenge myself. I don't want easy fights. I want to face the best”, commented Holm.
In addition to the two athletes who will fight for the belt and Cyborg, the UFC has not yet officially signed any featherweights. For Holm, this does not mean that the new category will have a short future in the organization.
“I bet you that there are now girls we haven't met yet who are being thankful for this new division and thinking, 'I can make 66lbs.' They will be more motivated. In the near future, we will see this with this new category. People who wouldn't be able to weigh 61 kg, but who are now thinking “this is my chance”. All over the world, we have girls training because they love the sport,” she concluded.
