Ex-UFC, Rory MacDonald debuts at Bellator 179, against Paul Daley

Former UFC welterweight title challenger, Canadian will debut in his new home on May 19, in London

Six months after leaving the UFC and signing with Bellator, Rory McDonald Finally, its debut was announced by the new organization. He will make his first appearance in the new home against Paul Daley, in the main fight of Bellator 179, which will take place on May 19, in London, England.

Former challenger in the welterweight division (up to 77kg) of Ultimate, MacDonald has not fought since June 2016, when he was defeated by Stephen Thompson at UFC Ottawa. Before, he had been knocked out by Robbie Lawler at UFC 189, in a duel valid for the category belt. At 27 years old, the Canadian has a professional record of 18 wins and four losses (9-4 in Ultimate)

Daley, in turn, has a positive result. He delivered a brutal knockout to Brennan ward, in January this year, at Bellator 170, adding his fifth triumph in the organization – he was defeated only once, to the Brazilian Douglas lima. Known for his high knockout power, the Englishman also had a stint in the UFC, with two wins and one setback, but was fired by Dana White for attacking referee Dan Miragliotta after a defeat to Josh koscheckIn 2010.
