Former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar has only one fight left on his current UFC contract. Ready to renew with the organization, the North American intends for his next fight to be against the interim featherweight champion Max Holloway or against Ricardo Lamas, current number 3 in the division ranking (Edgar is number 2).
“I want a new contract. Is what I want. I don't know what will happen, but I have no intention of going anywhere else. This has been my home since the beginning, I see no reason to leave. We are not far away in negotiations (…) Holloway or Lamas make sense. It really depends on what Max and Aldo are going to do”, commented the featherweight on the North American program “The MMA Hour”.
Despite having lost twice to José Aldo, Edgar, 35 years old, has a positive record among featherweights. The two setbacks for the Brazilian were the only ones for the North American in the category, and he beat names like B.J. Penn, Chad Mendes, Cub swanson and Charles Oliveira. His last victory was over Jeremy Stephens, at the historic UFC 205.
