Former member of TUF Brasil 3, middleweight Ricardo “Demente” Abreu was caught in an anti-doping test carried out in December 2016, and could worsen his situation before the UFC and USADA (Anti-Doping Agency). This is because he was already suspended for using a prohibited substance. In June last year, anabolic steroid metabolites were detected in his examination and he was punished with a two-year suspension.

If it is confirmed that the result of the new test was positive, “Demented” could spend twice as long out of MMA, with a suspension that could reach four years. Currently, he will only be able to fight again in June 2018. The UFC did not disclose the banned substance found in the Brazilian's exam and reiterated that he will have the chance to defend himself if he wants.

The Brazilian has not fought since the setback to the North American in June 2015.
