Number 1 in the ranking, Valentina Shevchenko won the chance to face the women's bantamweight champion Amanda nunes at the end Julianna Pena in the main fight of UFC Denver, held this Saturday (29), in the United States. After the duel, the Brazilian, who was present at the Pepsi Center arena, climbed into the octagon immediately after the fight, accepted the challenge made by the Ukrainian based in Peru and began a brief discussion with her next rival.

“I said it would be like this. A lot of people asked me how I would fight against a strong wrestler like Julianna Pena. I said I'm a complete fighter. I was very focused on this fight, and what I achieved today was incredible. I'm sure that my next fight will be for the belt against you”, Valentina challenged.

Amanda, with a calm expression, responded by recalling the first duel between them, held in March 2016, when the Brazilian won by unanimous decision from the judges. “You can be sure that if we face each other again, I will finish the fight. I know how to beat you, and if we face each other again, I won't win on points”, said the champion, who was promptly countered by her rival.

“In my country they say to always be careful about what you wish for others, because it can come back to you,” concluded Shevchenko.

At 28 years old, Shevchenko has three wins and just one defeat in Ultimate, precisely against his next opponent. Amanda nunes, in turn, has seven wins and one setback, and has been the division champion since July 2016, when she finished Miesha Tate at UFC 200. She defended her belt for the first time by knocking out Ronda Rousey at UFC 207 last December.
