The first fight of UFC 207 ended controversially, after Tim means apply illegal knees and knock out Alex Cowboy. Unable to continue, the Brazilian should have been declared the winner, but referee Dan Miragliotta scored a no contest (fight without result) because he thought the blows were unintentional. After the fight, the American indicated that he thought the knees were legal, which indicates intention. According to his coach Tata Duarte, Cowboy intends to appeal Miragliotta's decision to the Nevada Athletic Commission.

“It was unbelievable. Everyone saw that the knees were illegal. Let's appeal. We want this victory. After the fight, Means admitted that he thought the knee was cool, which means he had intent. He contradicted the referee's decision. Unbelievable”, commented Tata, to the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

PUBLICITY:

Cowboy's desire to legally obtain victory may also be financially motivated. Most UFC fight contracts indicate a fixed amount for the athlete to take action and, normally, double the salary in case of victory. Officially, the Brazilian earned US$28 and, if his contract stipulates a bonus, his salary could double.
