AnnMaria De Mars is currently known as the mother of Ronda Rousey. But she also made history in judo, becoming the first North American world champion in the sport. And, therefore, she has the morality to talk about her daughter's defeat to Amanda nunes, at UFC 207. In a post on her personal blog, the former athlete came to Rowdy's defense and explained why her daughter suffers so much when she loses.

“Those who criticized Ronda for suffering so much defeat do not understand what made her so successful. She cares so much about winning that I don't think the average person can understand that desire. Wanting something so bad doesn't mean you'll make the right decisions 100% of the time. I want to say that most of the people who criticized her don't know her. Ronda is an intelligent, kind, talented, generous and very hard-working person,” said De Mars.

Ronda's mother also listed all of her daughter's achievements, which include a junior world championship, a silver medal at the senior world championship and an Olympic bronze medal in judo, in addition to world titles in Strikeforce and UFC. De Mars also reiterated Rousey's exploits outside of martial arts, such as the films she starred in and the best-selling biography she wrote.
