According to Ultimate, the test that the Brazilian took on December 5th came back with a potential violation of the Anti-Doping policy adopted by the event in partnership with USADA itself. The company adds that Cris will be entitled to a legal review process, which must include tests on the B sample collected, before any sanctions are imposed.

There are no details yet on which substance would have caused Cyborg to fail the test. When she was Strikeforce champion, the Brazilian was caught using steroids and lost her title, as well as her license with the California Athletic Commission. The Invicta champion has two fights in the UFC and two victories, over Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg.

“The UFC was formally notified today that USADA informed Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation in an out-of-competition collection on December 5, 2016.

USADA, which is the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle results management and appropriate adjudication of the case. It is important to note that, within the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is an entire legal review process that is given to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.

Consistent with all previous potential violations of the Anti-Doping Policy, additional information or statements from the UFC will be provided at the appropriate time as the process continues.”
