CABMMA (Brazilian MMA Commission) announced, this Thursday (8), the reduction of the suspension of the heavyweight Roy Nelson, for attacking referee John McCarthy in the UFC Brasilia. The sentence, which was nine months, was reduced to just six.
The American had been irritated by Big John's delay in stopping the fight with Antonio Pezão, your personal friend. After finally declaring Nelson the winner, McCarthy turned his back and ended up being kicked by the heavyweight, who publicly apologized.
“I can’t apologize enough to my family, MMA fans and John McCarthy himself. My actions were out of character. I have nothing against anyone, especially John. I recognize my mistake and I apologize.”, he recently declared, during an event before the TUF 24 Finale.
Now, Nelson will be eligible to return to the Octagon starting March 29, 2017.
