Dana White explains Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell firings

Director admitted that decision was made by new UFC owners

A few days after announcing that Matt hugs and Chuck Liddell are no longer part of the UFC's staff, Dana White explained the reason for the dismissal of the former champions, who had positions on the company's board of directors.

According to the president of Ultimate, the decision to fire Hughes and Liddell, both members of the UFC Hall of Fame, was made by the company's new owners, the WME-IMG agents.

“When one company buys another, it is normal to have changes, especially at the executive level. They're going to bring in guys to fill those positions. Now it's their company and they have a lot of people for these vacancies. The thing about Chuck Liddell and Matt hugs, during the Zuffa era, those were my guys”, commented Dana on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, adding that he hired Hughes and Liddell because of the loyalty they both showed for the UFC in its lean times:
