The English fighter Darren stewart was outraged by the decision of the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) to annul his victory over Francimar Bodão in the UFC Sao Paulo, last Saturday (19). Due to the episode, Stewart asked foreigners to think carefully before accepting to face a Brazilian in Brazil in the future.

In the first fight of the event, Stewart defeated Bodão by technical knockout in the opening stages of the duel. CABMMA reversed the result after considering that the Englishman headbutted the Brazilian (a blow not permitted by the rules) in the decisive move, which turned the fight into a I didn't answer.

Stewart expressed his displeasure in a message on Instagram. “To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I traveled to Brazil, I missed my son's second birthday, I missed a vacation that I had already paid for with my fiancée and my son so I could compete”, he lamented. “This whole situation is rubbish. I invested a lot of time and money in this fight, I won, but your friends from the Brazilian MMA Commission reversed the decision. Every fighter should think twice before going to face a Brazilian in Brazil. If I had lost and appealed to the Brazilian Commission, I doubt the result would have been reviewed, because I am not Brazilian. We will do the rematch in London, on March 18th. If they refuse, this situation gets even worse”, said Stewart.

CABMMA's decision generated controversy, as other similar cases in the past were not reviewed, such as the fight between Scott Jorgensen and Jussier formiga, in Natal (RN). On that occasion, in 2014, the Brazilian submitted the North American after a headbutt, but the result of the fight was maintained.
