Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones did not take very seriously the recent statements made by his boss, Dana White, who showed his intention to never put him in a main event fight again.

Jones, currently suspended from fights due to doping, has already failed to attend some important commitments inside the Octagon. For example, at UFC 200, he was removed from the show's main attraction because he was caught with banned substances; at UFC 187, he was involved in a controversial traffic accident and was also prevented from fighting.

Therefore, White revealed that he would only put Jones on to lead an event if he sees a consistent change in behavior in the athlete. The American fighter, however, downplayed it: “I don't think he thought about the matter very well before speaking. I’m sure he didn’t mean that,” Jones wrote on his Twitter account.

Considered one of the UFC's best pound-for-pound fighters, Jones was light heavyweight champion between 2011 and 2015. The American had his belt taken away after being involved in a traffic stop and fleeing the scene without providing assistance to the victim, a pregnant woman. Jones went on to win the interim belt in April of this year, but was once again stripped of his position after being caught in an anti-doping test. The athlete will be released to fight again in July 2017.
