UFC Fight Night México: Sertanejo is defeated in a busy duel

Brazilian comes close to finishing in the last round, but loses to Perez in the decision; D'Silva puts on a show and knocks him out

Brazilian fighters left the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night México, on Saturday night (5), with one defeat and one victory. Felipe Sertanejo he had a fierce duel with Erik Perez, but ended up being defeated by the judges in a split decision. However, Perez was saved by the bell, which led to the fight being decided by the judges.

Two of the judges pointed to victory for the Mexican, enough to guarantee him a positive result. Thus, Perez wins his third victory in a row, while Sertanejo sees a sequence of two victories in a row interrupted.

After three fights decided by the judges in the UFC Mexico, Douglas D'Silva He made a point of ending his participation with style. The man from Pará, who had been away from the Octagon since February 2015, returned to action with a beautiful knockout against Henry Briones.

The fight took place entirely standing up. From the beginning, Douglas bothered his opponent with straight shots and crosses, but, as time went by, Briones found his distance and started to make good use of his greater wingspan.

As he began to take control of the fight, Briones was surprised by a counterattack at the end of the second round, which almost led to his knockout. Then, with the fight already in its final round, the Brazilian settled the bill: he applied an elbow in the counterattack and annihilated his rival, already groggy, with a round punch.

With this, D'Silva gets his second victory in three fights in the UFC. Briones, who was coming off a defeat to the future challenger for the belt, cody garbrandt, is knocked out for the first time in his professional career.
