Training at Kings MMA, Rafael reached the peak of his career when he won the lightweight belt in March 2015, when he dominated the then champion Anthony Pettis for five rounds. In his first title defense, he ran over Donald Cerrone in just 66 seconds and kept the belt. However, in July of that year he was knocked out by Eddie Alvarez and saw his brief reign come to an end.

Despite Dos Anjos' departure, other important Brazilian names are part of the team, such as Fabricio Werdum, Renato 'Babalu', Pedro Muñoz and others.
