Injured, Gustafsson has no plans to return to the Octagon

Sueco was scheduled to face Minotouro at UFC São Paulo, but a back injury removed him from the card

Alexander Gustafson is going through a delicate moment in his career. After almost a year away from the octagon due to some injuries, the Swede saw the movie repeat itself. With a back injury, he was removed from the card. UFC Sao Paulo, in November, when he would face Rogério Minotouro in the main event of the event. However, the problem appears to be more serious than imagined, and Gustafsson has no plans to return to the fight, as stated by Tomas Ghassemi, the athlete's manager.

“Pain comes and goes whenever it wants. Maybe it's a herniated disc problem. When the pain starts to go to his legs he knows it will affect his training and that's what happened this time. He wanted to come back faster after his last fight, he's in great shape, but when the pain spread and went to his legs, he couldn't continue in that fight,” he declared in an interview with the North American website 'ESPN'.

'The Mauler', as he is known, is coming off a points victory over Jan Blanchowicz at UFC Hamburg last September. At 29 years old, he has already challenged for the light heavyweight belt on two occasions – against Jon Jones e Daniel Cormier - but was defeated in both.
