The head coach of Conor McGregor, John Kavanagh, considers that UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez, will represent a much more “traditional” challenge for the Irishman in the title holders’ duel, which takes place on November 12th, in New York (USA).

In his last two fights, McGregor faced off against Nate diaz, considered by Kavanagh to be a less orthodox athlete. Therefore, the coach celebrated the fact that the Irishman had resumed a conventional approach during his preparation.

“The fight with Eddie Alvarez is much more 'standard' than we are used to. He fights with a more traditional stance and is very similar to a lot of guys Conor has beaten. Diaz, on the other hand, was an anomaly, a guy who requires specific training for him. I think that, with Eddie, we can return to a more traditional style of training”, he commented, in an interview with the Irish website “Independent.ie”.

Kavanagh recognizes that the fight will have alternating moments, but he is fully convinced of his pupil's triumph. “There will be pressure in this fight. I have no doubt there will be times when Conor will feel pressured. It's a fight, and at the end of the day, Eddie is UFC champion for a reason. He's been in the sport for a long time. We are prepared for the best, but we are also prepared for the worst. I would be surprised if the fight lasted 25 minutes, but Eddie will have his good moments. Ultimately, I have no doubt whatsoever that Conor’s arm will be raised,” he added.
