Businessman and trainer José Aldo, André Pederneiras revealed the content of his athlete's meeting with the UFC leadership, last Wednesday (19). According to the leader of the Nova União academy, Aldo's main intention is to modify his current contract with Ultimate so that he has full permission to compete in other disciplines.

Aldo, dissatisfied with not having had a rematch with Conor McGregor for the linear featherweight belt, he had originally asked for the contract itself to be terminated. However, due to the impossibility of implementing the plan, the Brazilian asked for small changes to be made in some terms.

“He wants to end his contract, but Dana [White, UFC president] said he can't do that. I know that, but maybe there could be some addendums in the contract to do other things, like kickboxing, jiu-jitsu or boxing. Dana was open to this, but asked Aldo, whenever he wanted to do this, to ask him for permission. He won't do that. If he's going to fight MMA, fine, it'll have to be in the UFC. But he doesn't want to keep calling Dana every time he wants to do jiu-jitsu or boxing. We are trying to add something to his contract to separate MMA, so that he can compete in other sports whenever he wants”, explained Pederneiras, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “ESPN”.

Furthermore, Pederneiras explained the origin of Aldo's frustration. “He was hoping for an immediate rematch [with McGregor] and it didn’t happen. He said 'these guys don't respect me. I was the champion for a long time, the only one in the featherweight division. If everyone gets immediate rematches, why not me?' After that, Dana called me and asked if he wanted to fight Frankie Edgar. I said it would be difficult, but I would try. I talked to Aldo for a month and I only convinced him because we asked Dana so the next one would be with McGregor. And Dana said yes,” he said.
