In a night of hard work for the judges, Strikeforce Challengers 24 was held yesterday (16), in the United States. Of the eight fights contested, only two were ended before the scheduled three rounds. In one of them, the Brazilian came out on top. Edward Pamplona, who debuted with victory in the event by defeating the North American Jerrod Peoples on the show's preliminary card.
The Brazilian started the fight by taking the initiative. After a failed guillotine attempt, Pamplona used his efficient ground and pound to win by technical knockout (punches) two minutes and 40 seconds into the fight.
With the victory, the Brazilian athlete extended his unbeaten run to ten fights in his career. Pamplona hasn't known what it's like to lose since 2007 and now has a record of 15 wins and just two defeats.
Those who didn't have a reason to celebrate last night were Ryan couture, son of living legend Randy Couture. The fighter suffered his first career defeat when he was defeated by Matt Ricehouse by unanimous decision of the judges. In the main fight of the card, Expensive Fodor remained undefeated in MMA by defeating James Terry also by unanimous decision of the judges.
