Giovani Decker, who served as UFC's senior vice president and general manager of Brazil, has resigned from the company and is no longer part of Ultimate's staff. The reason was not revealed, but both parties reached a common agreement that culminated in the executive's departure. The news was first reported by the North American website 'MMA Junkie', and the UFC has not yet officially commented on the case.
Giovani took on the role in March 2015, when he replaced Grace Tourinho, and remained in the position for 18 months. Under his management, there were five events held on Brazilian soil, with emphasis on UFC 198 held in Curitiba, in May this year. The first event he presided over was UFC Goiania, in May last year, when Carlos Condit knocked out Thiago Pitbull in the main fight. O UFC Brasilia, held last Saturday (24), marked Decker's departure from the position.
Former president of the sporting goods brand Asics in Brazil, Giovani Decker was largely responsible for the brand's growth in the national market between 2007 and 2014. During this period, the Brazilian subsidiary came to occupy sixth position in relation to all others for planet. In addition, he played as a football player in the youth teams of Grêmio and São Paulo.
