Conor McGregor He asked for so much that he got it! The Irishman, UFC featherweight (up to 65,8 kg) champion, will challenge North American Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) belt in the main fight of UFC 205, an event that marks the return of organization to New York, on November 12th, at the traditional Madison Square Garden.

The decision frustrates the Brazilian José Aldo, who hoped to have a rematch against McGregor for the featherweight title unification to avenge his only defeat in the Octagon, which happened in December last year.

The announcement of the fight between Alvarez and McGregor was made official by UFC president, Dana White, on the SportCenter program, on ESPN in the United States.

The announcement of the fight surprised the MMA world, as the director had the Irishman ruled out of the fight for the lightweight belt and the Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov confirmed in the duel. This Monday morning (26) Dana reaffirmed her desire to see the rematch between Aldo x McGregor. But, it seems, Conor's desire not to return to the featherweight category was stronger.

He then had two fights in the welterweight category (up to 77 kg.), when he was surprised by Nate diaz, at UFC 196, in March, and managed to get back at the North American at UFC 202, last month.
