Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey could actually return to active duty later this year. The person who declared was the North American's head coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, who confirmed that the athlete is considering a fight for the belt in her category at the end of 2016.

Ronda hasn't fought since November 2015, when she was dethroned in the category by Holly holm. UFC president Dana White said earlier this week that he considered pitting the American against Amanda nunes, current weight champion, at the end of the year. According to Tarverdyan, the possibility is indeed real.

“Some conversations about his return are taking place, but we have not yet made a final decision. There is a chance that she will fight for the title this year, but nothing is set in stone. If we are to return this year, we will return. Otherwise, it would be for next year. We want to thank all the fans for being patient”, said Tarverdyan, in an interview with the North American broadcaster “ESPN”.

The coach revealed that Ronda returned to the gym with an eye on her return last month, which would, in theory, allow her to participate in UFC 207, on December 30th. Tarverdyan guaranteed that his athlete is prepared to perform at her best. “When she comes back, I promise she will be the best Ronda Rousey that everyone has already seen”, he anticipated.
