A film producer from the United States has launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring to the cinema the story of MMA fighter Nick Newell, who competed professionally in the sport despite being born without part of his left arm.
Howard Burd is the main creator of “Notorious Nick” and wants to raise US$100 (R$325) in order to make the project financially viable. A campaign was launched last Tuesday (20) and will last 30 days.

Anyone who wants to contribute to the project can choose between 22 types of quotas, ranging from US$10 to US$15 thousand. The highest ones include participation in the execution of the film itself, whether in the role of producer, editor or even actor.
“We decided to run a crowdfunding campaign for this project to give Nick's fans an opportunity to show their support and engage with the filming process. I would love to bring inspiring stories to the big screen. That's why I'm in this business. Nick's story moved me from the beginning. His determination is unbelievable in such a brutal sport,” Burd said.
On the project, Burd teamed up with Mark DiSalle, a producer who has worked on fight-themed films such as “The Great White Dragon” and “Kickboxer”, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. If financing is successful, “Notorious Nick” will be released in December 2017.
Newell, now 30, was born without part of his arm and still competed in professional MMA. Between 2009 and 2015, the “Notório” had 13 wins and one defeat, including the title of the XFC organization. His only defeat came in 2014, when he challenged for the WSOF belt, one of the main organizations on the planet, and was knocked out by Justin gaethje.
