Bellator's latest signing, Chael Sonnen revealed that he will have to face heavy financial fines if he is caught in an anti-doping test at his new home.

The North American had been away from MMA since the end of 2013, as, in the middle of the following year, he failed two tests for banned substances before a fight he would have in the UFC. That, by the way, was not the first time that Sonnen was involved in this type of problem, as he was caught in a test after his first fight against Anderson SilvaIn 2010.
Thus, Sonnen revealed that Bellator imposed conditions to reduce the risk of seeing its new athlete again involved with doping. “If I fail a test during my contract with Bellator, it would cost me 100% of my purse and a fine of US$500 (R$1,6 million). And this only involves Bellator, not counting [the expenses and fines with] the Athletic Commissions. I know this doesn't carry the same weight as a clean test, but it means something. If you think I didn't read that part of the contract before signing it, yes, I did”, commented the North American, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
Sonnen, 39 years old, has a record of 28 wins, 14 losses and one draw in professional MMA. The North American, famous for his sharp tongue, has already challenged for the UFC belt on three occasions, but lost each time: twice to Anderson Silva, in the midrange, and another for Jon Jones in light heavyweights.
