Aldo eyes a duel with Pettis if he doesn't have a rematch with McGregor

Since losing with a quick knockout to Conor McGregor, in December last year, José Aldo seeks revenge with his tormentor. However, the Brazilian is already starting to plan his future within the UFC if the chance never comes, which would involve a fight against Anthony Pettis.

Last month, Pettis, a former UFC lightweight champion, debuted in the 66-pound division with a victory over Charles of the Bronx. Thus, Aldo considers the duel with the North American to be ideal if McGregor, in fact, leaves the featherweight category.

“I'm already frustrated, but we'll see. Every night I always ask for one more chance [with McGregor], 'let me go up there with him again' because what happened won't happen again. But, if not, I'd rather fight Pettis. I learned from them that it's not just about the event, about the belt. There's the business side. I think a fight with Pettis would sell a lot more than with [Max] Holloway”, said the Brazilian, in an interview with the program “Revista Combate”.

In July, Aldo won the interim featherweight belt, which, in theory, would give him an automatic chance to compete for the straight title, which belongs to McGregor. However, the Irishman is discussing the possibility of abandoning his belt to start his career in the lightweight division.

Interestingly, Aldo and Pettis had a fight scheduled in the past. The two would face each other at UFC 163, in 2013, in Rio de Janeiro, but the North American was injured and was replaced by Chan sung jungThe "Korean zombie".
