The Brazilian Gesias Cavalcante will be in action again at Strikeforce on June 18th. The athlete will measure forces with the North American Justin Wilcox No. Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum, an edition that will be based in the city of Dallas, in the United States.
Gesias is not going through one of his best phases in his career, as in his last five fights he has only had one victory. By facing Wilcox, the fighter will try to achieve his first positive result in Strikeforce, as he is coming off a defeat in his debut at the event to North American Josh Thompson at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons, which took place last October.
Wilcox has been undefeated since June 2009, during which he had six fights in his career. In his most recent fight, the North American knocked out the Brazilian Rodrigo Damm at Strikeforce Challengers 15, held on April 1st this year.
This edition of Strikeforce will also feature two quarterfinals of the event's heavyweight GP. The Brazilian Fabrício Werdum and the Dutch alistair overeem will face each other to define Antonio Pezão's opponent in one of the semifinals, while North Americans Josh Barnett and Brett Rogers fight for a place in the other semifinal against Sergei Kharitonov.
