Carwin: “This opportunity puts me in the fight for the title”

the american Shane carwin was hastily called up to face the Brazilian junior gypsy at UFC 131, replacing his compatriot Brock Lesnar, who suffers from an attack of diverticulitis. Even though the event is less than a month away, Carwin is happy with the opportunity and, despite praising Cigano, hopes to leave the Octagon with victory.

PUBLICITY:

“Junior (Cigano) is a tough fight and I wouldn't accept it with just 30 days notice, but I have a dream to achieve. This is an opportunity to put myself in contention for the title. I know my coaches will make me ready to win”, wrote the heavyweight on his official blog. Shane also commented on how the invitation to the fight happened.

PUBLICITY:

“I was training and my phone was blowing up from calling so much. I saw the missed calls from Dana (White) and Joe Silva. I contacted my manager and he informed me that I was called to replace Lesnar,” said Carwin, who wished the best for Brock Lesnar.

PUBLICITY:

“I hope Brock is able to bounce back. I look forward to facing him again one day,” concluded Carwin.
