Former rival wants Ronda back, but highlights: 'What I said was true'

In 2015, the Brazilian Bethe Correia fought a real war of words with Ronda Rousey before facing her at UFC 190. Despite having lost crushingly to the former champion, the Paraíba native insists that, in fact, she was right in her statements regarding the American's psychological strength.

The animosity between Bethe and Ronda began when the Brazilian said she hoped her rival “wouldn’t kill herself” if she lost the UFC belt. The then champion felt offended, as her father committed suicide when she was eight years old.

For Bethe, the behavior shown by Ronda after her defeat to Holly holm, in November last year, showed that she was correct. “When I fought Ronda, unfortunately I didn't win to show that what I said about her was the truth. I always said that I thought Ronda didn't have a very strong mental health and so on, proof of this is that after she lost she is still missing today, no one has heard from Ronda. I don’t know how she is, what the reasons were, but I think she’s not well”, observed the Brazilian, in an interview with the “Combate” channel website.

Despite the turbulent relationship with the former champion, Bethe highlighted that she would like to see the American in action again. “I will never take away the recognition of what Ronda did for women's MMA and I would love for her to return to MMA. Not only me, but the whole world wants to see her back in the octagon, especially because I have a defeat against her on my record and it's something I still want: to have a rematch against Ronda in the future. But for that she has to go back first,” she reminded her.

Bethe and Ronda faced each other at UFC 190, in Rio de Janeiro, and the American won by knockout less than a minute into the fight. The Brazilian, who also lost in her next fight, in April, against Rachel Pennington, returns to the octagon this Saturday (10), against Jessica Eye, at UFC 203.
