Rogério Minotouro faces Rich Franklin at UFC 133

Coming off two consecutive losses in the UFC, the last being to Phil Davis at UFC Fight Night 24, Brazilian Rogério Minotouro already has a date and opponent set to attempt his rehabilitation in the most famous octagon in the world. The black belt will face off against American Rich Franklin at UFC 133, an event scheduled to take place on August 6, in Philadelphia, United States. The confirmation of the duel was made, on Friday night, by the organization's president, Dana White, through a statement on the UFC's official website.

 

Minotouro, twin brother of the fighter Rodrigo Minotauro, has an MMA record of 19 wins and five losses. Since his debut in Ultimate, in November 2009, the Brazilian accumulated two victories in his first appearances, but later ended up losing in sequence to the North Americans Ryan bader at UFC 119, and Phil Davis at UFN 24. Franklin has a professional record of 28 wins and six losses. In his last appearance, Ace, as the former middleweight champion is known, was defeated by Forrest griffin in the unanimous decision of the judges at UFC 126, held in February.

UFC 133 brings, in addition to Rogério Minotouro, two more Brazilians in action: Rafael “Sapo” Natal will face Riki Fukuda and Vitor belfort will face the Japanese Yoshihiro Akiyama.
