According to the source of the North American portal (which was not revealed), Joe's departure is linked to the new management of the UFC, sold in July this year for US$4 billion, around R$13,2 billion to 'William Morris Endeavor/IMG', a famous Hollywood talent agency. Silva would have earned a million dollars due to his position as an executive at the company, and this would be one of the main reasons for the decision to retire. It is not known whether Sean Shelby, responsible for scheduling fights in the lighter categories (featherweight, bantamweight, flyweight and strawweight categories), will take over the duties of his professional partner or if the company will hire another professional to work in the area.
Silva has worked for the UFC for 21 years, even before the franchise was acquired by Zuffa (a US sports company specializing in mixed martial arts and responsible for Ultimate for 15 years) in 2001. Joe and the UFC have not yet made a formal announcement of the decision.
