Former UFC lightweight champion, Benson Henderson will have his second chance to win a belt in Bellator. He faces the North American Michael chandler, current holder of the lightweight division title, at Bellator 164, which takes place on November 19th in San José, California.
Henderson arrived at the organization with the status of future champion, due to the success he achieved when he fought for the UFC. In his old home, Benson went through ups and downs, but won the lightweight belt by overcoming Frankie Edgar by points. He also defended the strap on three occasions, until he was finished by Anthony Pettis and lose the title. At Bellator, he debuted facing the Russian Andrei Koreshkov for the welterweight belt, but was easily dominated. Last Friday (26), Ben made his return to his home category and recovered by beating the Brazilian Patricio pitbull, who ended up getting injured in the second round and had to abandon the fight.
Michael chandler, in turn, regained the belt by knocking out Patricky Pitbull at Bellator 158, in June of this year. will put the belt on the line against former UFC champion Benson Henderson. This will be Chandler's third title defense – he had already defended it twice the first time he was champion, in 2013. Interestingly, Michael has already beaten Eddie Alvarez, current UFC lightweight division champion.
