The quick defeat suffered by Demian Maia No. UFC Vancouver, last Saturday (27), could have definitive consequences for the career of Carlos Condit in MMA. The North American considered retiring from the sport after being submitted in less than two minutes by the Brazilian at the event held in Canada.

Condit, in fact, has been flirting with retirement since he was defeated by Robbie Lawler in January, in a fight that put the UFC welterweight belt at stake. The setback for Demian, the third in his last four fights, could have been the definitive moment for his decision-making.

“I don’t know if I can fight at this level anymore. I've been doing this for a long time, with the pressure of being one of the top athletes for almost a decade. It's been incredible. I loved getting involved with this sport and I was able to do what I love for a living. But I do not know. I don't know if I belong here anymore. Let’s see,” Condit said at a press conference.

At 32 years old, Condit has been fighting MMA professionally since 2002. Throughout his career, the “Natural Born Killer” has defeated names like Rory McDonald, Nick Diaz, Thiago Pitbull and Dan Hardy, with a record of 30 wins and ten losses.
