Okami: “Anderson should fight me”

Undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva hasn't known what it's like to lose since April 2006, when he was defeated by the Japanese Yushin Okami, by disqualification. After the setback, the “Spider”, as the Brazilian is known, accumulated 14 consecutive victories and is considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. But despite the Brazilian athlete's impressive numbers, the Japanese fighter believes he can defeat Anderson again. In an interview with the North American website Cage Potato, Okami asks for a chance to compete for the Ultimate belt

“I want to fight Anderson (Silva) and win. I believe I can be the new star of the UFC”, said the Japanese. “Anderson is at the top of the middleweight category and I'm ready for the belt. I promise I will take him down and be the new champion”, he said.

Despite several rumors about the confrontation between Anderson Silva and the canadian Georges St Pierre, owner of the welterweight belt, Okami insists that the next challenger for the Brazilian's title should be him.

PUBLICITY:

“Well, I've heard several things (about Anderson's next challenger), but instead of GSP he should fight me. I deserve this chance”, concluded Okami.
