One of the most controversial doping cases in MMA in recent times could end without punishment for the main person involved. According to UFC President Dana White, Jon Jones apparently he did not ingest the banned substance that caused him to be cut from the historic UFC 200 last month.

On the eve of the fight against Daniel Cormier, Jones was removed from the attraction after failing an anti-doping test carried out the previous month, still during the training period. The interim light heavyweight champion was caught using estrogen blockers, which are normally used by athletes to avoid side effects of anabolic steroids.

At the beginning of the week, Jones recorded a message to his fans in which he said he had received “good news” regarding the case. White, in an interview with the radio program “Jim Rome Show”, confirmed the athlete’s report.

“Well, it looks like he didn't take the supplement everyone thought he took. Let's see what happens. I don't even know if I can talk about this publicly, but it looks like Jones didn't ingest the substance everyone thought he did. It seems like it was something else. If this is true and confirmed by USADA [United States Anti-Doping Agency] and the Nevada Athletic Commission, the situation could be good for Jon Jones”, commented the leader.

It was expected that Jones could face around two years of suspension if he was indeed found guilty. The North American is expected to undergo trial soon, which does not yet have a set date.
