After having his return to the UFC postponed due to an anti-doping policy violation, B.J. Penn projected a new date for his return to the octagon. The former lightweight and welterweight champion aims to have his next fight in November, in the featherweight category.

Penn, who had been retired since 2014, would make his return at UFC 199 in June. However, he was removed from the fight after using intravenous fluid during training, something that is not allowed under Ultimate's new anti-doping policy with its outsourced partner, USADA.

The Hawaiian assured that the setback did not change his desire to fight again. “The fight should take place approximately in November. That's when we have our sights set on returning, so let's talk to the UFC. We 100% want to return, at featherweight, and we will achieve that”, he said, in an interview with the website “KHON2”.

Penn, in fact, welcomes the postponement of the fight. “It could definitely be positive because I’ve been away for a long time. I was retired for a while, so that gives me more time to train. Around September, I’m going to Albuquerque [USA] and training with Greg Jackson and all the top guys we have there,” he explained.
