Wilson reis was supposed to be about to have the most important fight of his career, against Demetrious Johnson, for the UFC flyweight belt. The duel would take place this Saturday (30), in the second biggest attraction of UFC 201, in Atlanta, in the United States. However, an injury to the champion changed everything, and the Brazilian did not hide his disappointment with the events.

Johnson was cut from UFC 201 and will only return to action at the end of the year, when he will defend his title against the winner of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter 24. Thus, Wilson lost the chance to fight for the belt, which also ended up throwing him to the preliminary card of UFC 201 – now, he will face Hector Sandoval, who will make his debut at the event.
“Going from a fight with Demetrious Johnson, one of the best pound for pound in the world, for a normal fight it was a little sad. I was creating expectations for two months, evolving. And it's not that the fight was postponed: it was cancelled. It’s certainly very frustrating”, lamented the Brazilian, in an interview with the “MMA Junkie” website.
However, he recognizes that there was little that could be done. “I didn’t have many options. We tried to find another date, but as the winner of TUF 24 will receive the chance to fight for the title, this possibility was ruled out. And, as I didn’t want to stop my training, I chose to have another fight,” he explained.
With the output of Demetrious Johnson card, UFC 201 will have just one title fight: Robbie Lawler x Tyron woodley for the welterweight belt.
