Upon winning the interim UFC featherweight belt, José Aldo practically guaranteed his right to rematch against Conor McGregor. And, according to the Brazilian, there is a good chance that the long-awaited second part of the duel will take place at the debut of Ultimate in New York, on November 12th.

Aldo considers this to be the UFC's plan, but emphasizes: everything depends on the result of the fight between McGregor and Nate diaz, which headlines UFC 202 on August 20th. “If he [McGregor] loses, it is very likely that they will put us together to fight on November 12th, at Madison Square Garden. The Irish community there is huge. But, if he wins, I think they will have a third fight between them, which ruins all my plans”, said the Brazilian, in a press conference reproduced by the “MMA Fighting” website.
The fighter believes, however, that Diaz will win again. “If I had to bet, it would be on Nate. From what I saw, he is much bigger, stronger and is training. The other time, he accepted the fight at short notice and still managed to win. Well trained, it’s difficult for McGregor,” he analyzed.
Aldo lost the UFC featherweight belt with a lightning knockout against McGregor in December last year. From then on, the two followed different paths: McGregor moved up in weight to face Diaz at UFC 196, but ended up submitting; Aldo already hit Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 to win the interim belt.
