The recently announced tournament by the Japanese organization Rizin has reignited an old rivalry that had been dormant. Wanderlei Silva promised a rematch against his former tormentor Mirko Cro Cop and guaranteed that he will knock out his rival, complete with a “goal shot and stomp”.

Wand and Cro Cop, old rivals since the PRIDE days, will be present at the GP that will be held in the second half of this year. The round of 25 will take place on September 29th, the quarterfinals on December 31th, and the semi-finals and final on December XNUMXst.

“We are in the Rizin Grand Prix. Wait for me, I'm coming! I'll soon resolve this issue in the ring. I don't like this guy, nobody likes him. I'm going to put my hand in my face! I'll knock you out! Goal kick and stomp! Cro Cop, what’s yours is saved”, Wanderlei provoked, in a post on his Facebook page.

In the last decade, Wanderlei and Cro Cop faced each other twice. In the first of them, in 2000, the duel ended in a draw, since, according to the rules adopted in the fight, the fight would only have a winner in the case of a knockout or submission. In the rematch, in 2006, Cro Cop imposed one of the most devastating defeats of Wanderlei's career, with a brutal knockout after a kick to the head.
