Lesnar remains subject to doping tests for UFC partner

Despite not having defined whether it will continue competing, the giant will remain on the USADA list for testing prohibited substances

Even without defining his future in MMA, Brock Lesnar will continue to undergo anti-doping tests outside the competition period. The person who guaranteed it was the United States Anti-Doping Agency itself, USADA, an official partner of the UFC.

After four years away, Lesnar returned to fighting last Saturday (9), at UFC 200, an event in which he defeated Mark Hunt in the judges' decision. The North American giant has not yet decided whether it will continue competing or return to retirement.

Precisely because he had not made a formal decision, USADA spokesperson Ryan Madden declared that Lesnar will not be spared the routine exams carried out by the entity. “To my knowledge, Brock Lesnar did not notify USADA of his retirement from the UFC. Therefore, he remains subject to USADA testing and the UFC's anti-doping policy,” said the representative in a statement sent to the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Since July 2015, when the partnership between UFC and USADA came into effect, all athletes under contract with the largest MMA organization on the planet have been subject to random anti-doping tests. This happens regardless of whether the fighter in question has a fight scheduled.

At 39 years old, Lesnar was UFC heavyweight champion between 2008 and 2010. His return to the Octagon was marked by controversy: as he was announced at UFC 200 just a few weeks before it took place, Lesnar did not submit to the mandatory four months of exams that an athlete needs to be released to fight.
